"It's a little touch of the Caribbean," says interior designer Linda Woodrum. "The blue green walls suggest the beautiful water of the beaches in the islands."

"That's the sea glass bedroom," says interior designer Linda Woodrum, who packed the second-floor guest space with saturated hues of tidal blue and green, inspired by weathered bottle glass that washes up on the shore. Painted furnishings, striped walls and a floral-butterfly motif keep the room fresh and feminine.

About the Guest Suite Bedroom

Interior designer Linda Woodrum looked to Kiawah Island history for inspiration when furnishing the home's second floor guest room. Indigo, once a Low Country staple crop, served as a springboard for the room's saturated color palette. A casual, comfortable design scheme was also top of mind. "It has all the elements you'd want to have if you were in a guest room or you'd want to offer a guest," says Linda.

The casual family gathering space enjoys both marsh and great room views and takes advantage of the home's soaring vaulted ceiling.

"The downstairs is very subdued, sophisticated and controlled," says interior designer Linda Woodrum. "And I wanted the upstairs loft to feel more island-like." The relaxed, whimsical gathering space draws its palette from dramatic sky views; the selection of furnishings invites one to grab a seat, kick up one's heels and enjoy the evening's show.
